And Just Like That....

First of all, Chloe in her resting face zen like mood says “Howdy”!  We’re both glad you’ve joined us here.

And just like that it’s been 18 days since I deactivated Facebook and more than a week has gone by since my last post!  My plan was to try and post a new blog each Wed. but alas, time has gotten away from me. It’s Thursday already.

Here’s what’s curious to me:  One of the main reasons I’m off FB is because it was taking up too much of my time.  So here I am with no FB or Instagram and STILL super busy from the time I wake up until I drop into bed around 7:00 or 8:00 pm. (Yes, I go to bed that early these days!) The difference is I’m busy getting lots of things done that needed doing, and getting caught up on some things I’ve been putting off forever it seems. Or it felt like forever to me.

Here are a few things I’ve been catching up on:

  1. Updating and moving this website to Bandzoogle which is made specifically for musicians. I’m in a big learning curve trying to figure out how everything works over there, but it’s not too hard and I’m enjoying the learning process.
  2. Organizing my radio contacts, data base, songwriters and everything that goes with producing and hosting a weekly radio show.  I’d love for you to follow me there if you’ve a mind to. Click her to FOLLOW THE BETH WILLIAMS INDIE AMERICANA SONGWRITER SHOW.  The show features “Indie” songwriters which simply means they’re independent and not on a record label.  Most of the artists I play are doing everything themselves although there are a some who have the means to hire record promoters, publicists, booking agents and such.  I lean more towards playing the true “grassroots” artists. I’m all about DIY (Do it Yourself) and find that works best for me. Yes, yes I know if you hire people to help you can go much farther but honestly…I like where I’m at and feel like (as they say) “I’m in the right place at the right time”.
  3.  Trying to learn more about my ProTools Studio. It needs a few tweaks and I’m working on getting those corrected.
  4. Still learning about my new BOSE speaker, wireless headset and wireless guitar rig. So many learning curves! Glad to have a little extra time these days!!
  5.  Cleaning up my You Tube channel a bit. There are old videos I’m deleting and also trying to group things together so my channel makes more sense.  Honestly, you could spend all day, every day working on your You Tube channel and still not get it all done. Baby steps work for me. A little at a time. One foot in front of the other. I’m also re-thinking how I want to approach You Tube going forward.
  1. Spending more time with pets and family. Normally most of my time is spent alone in the studio but I’m walking outside a few miles each day again, taking the dogs with me until they get tired.  Stopping to take a few pictures of the flowers. Not too many growing yet but I know they’ll be here soon! Even went out to Red Lobster with the family a few nights ago. I must say, it ’twas delicious!

MY GOAL AND MY HOPE

When I take time to think about what it is I’m trying to accomplish by being away from social media, it’s this. To  calm the static and noise in my brain so I can get back to writing songs.  By gifting myself with peaceful quiet I hope to better listen to and be one with my muse.  Time is short. There’s no time for any of us to waste, in my opinion.  So for me, catching up on those things that have been gnawing at my being is truly a welcome relief. So I can then do the thing that gives me so much joy and feels like what I’m meant to be doing.

Today I’m going to try and record a new video so I best get to it. Thanks for stopping by and as always, I’d love for you to join me on my You Tube Channel. Be sure to subscribe!

Here’s my latest “Short” video. Hope you enjoy!

Wishing you well always, xoxo Tater
