Dear friends - I was off Facebook for 6 months during which time I was Blogging pretty regularly. Have been back on FB for about 8 months and this is my 1st entry. Yikes!! Thought I should do a quick catch up about what's been happening and what's happening next.
CHANGES: There have been so many changes in America since the new administation took over. I'm not okay with what's going on, however, it's out of my hands and out of my control. I pray, trust the Lord and try to focus on the good I can do in my little corner of the world. I imagine you're probably doing the same? One foot in front of the other, friend, doing what we know is right. Like this song says….
LATEST NEWS: During the pandemic I tried live streaming but our wifi was too slow. We're now able to get fast internet up here so I'm learning about live streaming!
TWO STREAMS: I'm working on 2 different types of live streams. One will be my original songs and old cover songs. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to be streaming once a week. We'll see how that goes. Maybe on a Saturday or Sunday evening? On YouTube and Facebook. Nothing fancy at all. Just an intimate concert with yours truly.
WHY am I doing this? Other than taking my music to healthcare facilities each week, for the most part I haven't been playing out since the pandemic and I'm not really inclined to at this time. This will motivate me to practice and play more. Plus hopefully the listeners (You!) will enjoy the music. Beats having to get all dressed up and going out. Am I right? Depends on how old you are. For me, staying home and singing for you all is the best thing right now. Oh! And I'll be setting up a mailing list about that.
CHARLIE CHUCKLES: Meet Charlie Chuckles. My granddaughter Mozelle and I went to a Farmers Market and a lady was there learning to do wool felting. This gnome was one of the first things she had made. Of course since he was wearing purple and holding red flowers I fell in love with him. He's now part of my live stream team. I named him “Charlie Chuckles” because he whispers one liner jokes in my ear and I repeat them during my live stream. That in and of itself is a reason YOU should join me on an upcoming live stream!!!
LIVE ZOOM SINGALONG: The other live stream has already begun. It's a once a month ZOOM SINGALONG directed towards Care Communities, Health Care Facilities, Caregivers, Residential Care Facilities and is also open to anyone looking for a simple, happy, fun, positive time. NEW MIXER: I tried streaming with ProTools on my Creative Station but I was having challenges figuring out the Audio + Video +ProTools etc. I also tried with a regular large size mixer (You know the ones all musicians used to have? Heavy and awkward), but it was bulky and in the way. So! I ordered a new mixer from Sweetwater and I'm excited to try it out. Who said we're never too old to learn new things? He/She was right!
THERE WAS A TIME I felt I was incapable of learning new, complicated things. I didn't go to college and barely made it out of High School simply because I wasn't interested in what they were teaching. I think it's one of many reasons I never thought I was smart.
Around 2001 Greg Forest changed all that for me. He took the time to show me how to set up a Protools Studio and then how to shoot and edit videos. He was such a great teacher - My confidence grew and I realized I'm pretty much unstoppable when it comes to learning new things. Greg is no longer with us (Many of us believe he's in Eternal Jamaica) but he lives on forever in my heart and thoughts. I believe we'll meet again on down the road and I can't wait to see him. BETH WILLIAMS INDIE AMERICANA SONGWRITER SHOW: I began producing and hosting my radio show on Feb. 9, 2017 and after 8 years on air ended it a few months ago. It was time to move on and make space for other things. I'm grateful to each station that carried the show and to the songwriters who sent their music in.
